Stage set-up

Line-up

  • Lead Guitars & Vocals
  • Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
  • Bass & Vocals
  • Keyboards & Vocals
  • Vocals & More Vocals
  • Vocals, Flute and Percussion
  • Drums (he hasn't paid us enough money for us to let him sing)

Configuration

We set up with four across the front and two at the back with the drums. One of the singers at the back plays the flute and percussion. They all take turns doing lead and backing.

Foldback can be an issue, so we like to have two monitors at the front plus something to the side: we can use the drum monitor as it has extra channels. There is a dedicated monitor for the keyboard player.

The positions are as follows:

Front row (from stage left):

  1. Keyboards and vocals
  2. Bass and vocals
  3. Lead guitar and vocals
  4. Rhythm guitar and vocals

Back row

  1. Drums
  2. Vocals
  3. Vocals, flute and percussion

PA Inputs - full board

If everything is going through the PA, we will need 11 inputs:

  • 6 microphones (XLR)
  • Keyboards (XLR from a DI box)
  • Drums (XLR from a DI box)
  • Bass (DI from Amplifier, XLR to PA for the main mix)
  • Lead Guitar (Line out from amplifier - jack)
  • Rhythm guitar (XLR from Mic on Amp)

PA Inputs - small board

If there are a limited number of inputs in the PA then we can get away with 5 channels:

  • 2 XLR from the offboard mixer (requires additional power socket)
  • Keyboards (XLR from a DI box)
  • Drums (XLR from a DI box)
  • Bass (DI from Amplifier, XLR to PA for the main mix)

Power Requirements

  • Drums: 3 sockets or 1 suitable for trailing socket
  • Keyboard&Vocals: 3 sockets or 1 for a trailing socket
  • Bass amp: 1 socket
  • Lead Guitar: 1 socket
  • Rhythm Guitar: 1 socket.

Miscellaneous

  •  We have a full-set of mics and mic-stands (see 'Equipment' below)  each has a 10m XLR cable.
  • We can provide an offboard mixer for PAs with limited inputs. Mics and inputs are colour-coded.
  • We can provide a PA if necessary
  • We usually turn-up with enough cables and trailing sockets to sink a medium-sized battleship.
